Giana Ortiz

 

Before attending law school, Giana taught bilingual kindergarten and third grade in low-income schools in Galveston, Texas. She attended law school on scholarship at the University of Houston, where she served as a senior articles editor for the Houston Law Review. Following law school, Giana served as judicial law clerk to the Honorable Jorge Solis of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas.  She practiced at an international law firm for several years before joining her father in practice in 2014. 

Giana has represented clients before school boards, administrative law judges, the Texas Education Agency, district courts, courts of appeal, and the Texas Supreme Court.  Giana is an alumna of the State Bar of Texas Leadership class, former Chair of the State Bar of Texas Court Rules Committee, the Chair of the State Bar's School Law Section, and is a member of the Texas Supreme Court Advisory Committee, appointed by the Supreme Court of Texas.  Giana also serves on the Board of Directors for the Arlington ISD Education Foundation, and regularly volunteers with her family as a Buddy for the Miracle League DFW.

She is a regular speaker on issues of school law and rules of procedure.
